- Chief Financial Officer Remote
City Teaching Alliance is seeking a Chief Financial & Operations Officer to drive the organization’s long-term financial sustainability and operational excellence across our four program cities—Baltimore & Central Maryland, Dallas, Greater DC Metro, and Philadelphia.
Reporting to the CEO, this leader will serve as the principal advisor on all fiscal matters, capital strategy, and enterprise operations, translating strategic priorities into actionable financial frameworks and integrated systems that support our 5Cs model—Coaching & Mentoring, Coursework, Certification, Clinical Placement, and Community. The Chief Financial & Operations Officer will oversee budgeting, accounting, audits, HR, IT, and risk management, while partnering with advancement and program teams to align resources, fundraising, and organizational goals.
This is an ideal role for a strategic finance and operations leader who thrives at the intersection of numbers, systems, and mission-driven impact—and who believes that sound financial stewardship and efficient operations are essential to transforming education.

City Teaching Alliance Consulting partners with school systems, nonprofits, and educational organizations to strengthen instructional practice and support educator development. We’re building a network of experienced education professionals to support these engagements.
Consultants may contribute to:
- Facilitating professional learning and coaching for educators and school leaders
- Supporting program coordination and implementation
- Contributing to needs assessments, learning design, and continuous improvement
- Supporting candidate recruitment and talent development
We’re looking for educators who bring:
- Significant K–12 or higher education experience
- Expertise in instructional practice, adult learning, or professional development
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and collaboration skills
- A commitment to equitable, culturally responsive practice
Engagements are offered on a project-by-project basis as independent contractor arrangements across virtual, hybrid, and in-person formats. Partner regions include Washington, DC; Maryland; Pennsylvania; Texas; New Jersey; and New York, though experience in these areas is not required.
