Navigating The City Teaching Alliance Admissions Process: How To Apply

So, you’ve decided to take the first exciting step in your education career and apply to the City Teaching Alliance teaching program. That’s amazing! 

Let’s break down our admissions process so you know exactly what to expect at every step of your journey with us.

STEP 1: START WITH THE ONLINE APPLICATION

The first step on your journey is filling out our online application. Here’s what you’ll need: 

  • Your resume, and 
  • Responses to two short-answer prompts.

These prompts are your chance to share your story, your passion for teaching, and how you align with our mission to provide excellent education to students in Baltimore, Dallas, DC, and Philadelphia schools.

STEP 2: CHAT WITH A RECRUITER

Before you hit that submit button, take a moment to connect with one of our recruiters. This brief conversation allows you to ask questions, get insights into our program details, and help you determine if City Teaching Alliance is the right fit for your career goals. STEP 3: SUBMIT YOUR ADDITIONAL MATERIALS

Before your interview, you’ll need to provide a few more things:

  • Your undergraduate transcripts, and 
  • The contact information for two recommenders.

This step is essential because it gives us a well-rounded view of your academic achievements and recommendations from people who can speak to your potential.

STEP 4: THE PHONE INTERVIEW (IF NEEDED)

Once our admissions team has reviewed your application, some candidates will move straight to the final interview. Others might be asked to do a quick phone interview, which is a chance for us to learn more about your experiences and passions.

STEP 5: THE FINAL INTERVIEW

The final stage is a 90-minute virtual interview with City Teaching Alliance community members. This is your moment to shine! You’ll discuss your vision for your classroom, your passion for equity, and how you plan to make a difference in your school community.
