WELCOME TO OUR 15TH CLASS OF ASPIRING EDUCATORS!
The energy was palpable as more than 200 aspiring educators arrived at our Summer Institutes in Baltimore, DC, Dallas, and Philadelphia last week to prepare for their first year of co-teaching in the classroom. We are proud and honored to launch a new year of programming alongside these future instructional leaders and change-makers, and hope you will join us in welcoming City Teaching Alliance’s 15th residency cohort!
City Teaching Alliance is immensely grateful to all who have supported us into our second decade of operations. Because of you, we have already impacted the lives of more than 400,000 students through our educators. And as our aspiring teacher enrollment and diversity grow through new and improved recruitment, admissions, and transition support strategies, we are excited to exponentially grow the number of children taught by well-prepared, culturally-responsive, committed teachers in the years to come.
REMINDER: 3 days remain to take the #HalfMyDAF challenge!
You can help us add to the number of exceptional teachers in our network, and the learners they nurture, by designating a grant to City Teaching Alliance from your DAF – and possibly having all or part of it matched for twice or even thrice the impact.
- #HalfMyDAF will award dollar-for-dollar matches up to $5,000.
- Nonprofits working in education and underserved communities, racial and gender justice, and strengthening democracy have access to an additional $850,000 in matching funds. (THIS IS US!)
- Designate your grant to City Teaching Alliance “for teacher finances, access, and affordability” and a national partner will match it dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000 – in addition to the #HalfMyDAF matching funds available.
- You have until the end of day June 28th to submit your DAF grants for matching funds.
How you can participate in the #HalfMyDAF challenge:
- Make a donation and commit to spend down half the money in your DAF.
- Start by making a grant, make a copy of your grant confirmation, and complete a #HalfMyDAF commitment form and attach the DAF grant confirmation.
- Submit grants using the form linked above to as many nonprofits as you’d like.
- You have until the end of day Friday, June 28th to submit your DAF grants for matching funds.
- Have questions? Here’s an FAQ.
- Spread the word. Please let friends, family, and peers know about #HalfMyDAF. The more DAF holders who accept the challenge, the more money is put to work in our communities.
No DAF? No worries. Make a donation here. Want it doubled? Again, designate it for “teacher finances, access, and affordability” and we will directly match your gift up to $100,000 through our national match partnership.
