COMBATING RACIAL AND SOCIOECONOMIC INEQUALITY
Over 50% of students in the School District of Philadelphia identify as Black/African American & over 20% Hispanic/Latinx. There is a pride in the recognition that over 70% of our Philly residents identify as Black or people of color—providing opportunities for windows and mirrors for many students in Philly.
Teaching in Philadelphia
Our theory of change is grounded in serving the most vulnerable communities with a focus on middle and high schools mostly located in North Philadelphia. City Teaching Alliance Philly recognizes the beauty, culture, and brilliance of the communities we serve by employing humility and a learning approach from all stakeholders and community members.
We strive to prepare all of our Philly residents and fellows to prioritize cultural awareness, anti-racist mindsets, and best practices in and outside of the communities they serve.
