Lasting Impact Starts Here

We measure our impact not only by who begins teaching, but by who stays connected to the work, strengthens school communities, and creates lasting opportunity for learners.

Three strategic priorities. One strong educator workforce

City Teaching Alliance’s impact begins with educators and extends to learners, schools, and communities. Our strategic priorities guide how we strengthen pathways into teaching, support educators throughout their careers, and build the partnerships and organizational capacity needed for lasting change.

  • Strengthen & Diversify the Educator Pipeline
We are expanding access to rigorous, supported pathways into teaching—recruiting talented aspiring educators and creating clearer onramps for career changers, paraprofessionals, and other school-based professionals. The result: more prepared, mission-aligned educators entering the profession and serving the communities where they are needed most.
  • Elevate a Care-Centered, Tech-Enabled Model of Support
We are strengthening the coaching, certification support, professional community, resources, and career development that help educators thrive. We will use technology and AI thoughtfully to improve access, preparation, and support while keeping human relationships at the center. The result: educators who feel prepared, supported, connected, and equipped to stay and grow.
  • Build Institutional Durability & Alliance-Driven Impact
We are building the financial strength, operational capacity, research infrastructure, and durable partnerships needed to sustain and expand our impact. By working alongside districts, universities, community organizations, philanthropy, and other partners, we can strengthen educator pathways across the broader ecosystem. The result: a more resilient City Teaching Alliance and stronger school communities supported by sustainable educator workforces.
  • Impact grows through partnerships

Partnerships allow us to connect educator preparation to real school-community needs, support educators in context, improve workforce systems, and learn what helps talented people stay and lead.

    The C.A.R.E Difference

Educator retention is shaped by more than preparation. It is also shaped by whether educators feel connected, supported, equipped, and empowered to grow.

Care is how we help educators build relationships, navigate systems, access practical resources, develop professional confidence, and see themselves as leaders. It is also how we help partners build workforce solutions that recognize the human realities behind retention and long-term school success.

    Placing Teachers at the Center

Teachers at the Center is City Teaching Alliance’s national listening tour on the future of education. Across communities, we are listening to educators about what they love, what they need, what makes the work harder, and what will help them thrive, stay, and lead.

The tour will translate educator insight into a national white paper, practical recommendations, and an action-oriented policy agenda.
