Alliance Newsletter
FROM DR. RAHESHA AMON, CEO
Dear friends and partners,
As we approach the end of another school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on what we’ve accomplished together and to celebrate the people who make our work possible.
This May, we’re proudly honoring Teacher Appreciation Week, but as many of you know, our appreciation for educators is not limited to one week. It’s embedded in everything we do. Our teachers are changemakers. They show up with brilliance, compassion, and persistence every single day. They guide students through challenges, unlock their confidence, and help them imagine what’s possible. Especially in this moment, when our education system continues to face political pressure and real resource constraints, our teachers remain a steady force of hope and possibility.
This month has also reminded us how powerful it is to be in community. We recently gathered in Philadelphia with alumni, partners, and supporters to reflect on how far we’ve come in the city and recommit to what lies ahead. And in San Diego, our team joined leaders at the ASU+GSV Summit, where we engaged in critical conversations about the future of education, the evolving needs of teachers, and the urgency of equity-driven work.
I also want to lift up the extraordinary residents who are completing their first year of teaching. These individuals – our future leaders in education – have demonstrated the kind of resilience, care, and growth mindset that defines excellent teaching. Their dedication to their students and their own learning is nothing short of inspiring!
At City Teaching Alliance, we are building a community of educators who believe in the power of young people and who are committed to a career in teaching. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or a new friend to this work, thank you for walking alongside us.
Let’s continue building a future where every student has access to a well-prepared, deeply supported teacher.

CELEBRATING TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
We know one week could never capture the impact of teachers, but we’re proud to join communities nationwide in saying thank you! City Teaching Alliance teachers show up every day with excellence, helping students reach their full potential. Today, we’re highlighting Ana, a member of our 2022 Washington DC cohort, who was nominated to be honored by her instructional coach! Check out more amazing teachers on our Instagram.
PHILLY MILESTONES: A CELEBRATION OF COMMUNITY AND PROGRESS
On April 22, we gathered with friends, partners, and alumni in Philadelphia to celebrate the impact of City Teaching Alliance in the city and honor local champions of education with our event, Building the Ecosystem: What Educators Need to Succeed and Stay. The event included welcome remarks from City Teaching Alliance Philadelphia Executive Director, Jeff Glowik, and CEO, Dr. Rahesha Amon, followed by a thoughtful discussion from our panel about what it takes to keep effective teachers in the classroom, and how we build systems that truly support them. Check out the event’s digital program to learn more about our panelists. Thank you to our sponsors, Spring Point Partners, M&T Bank, and The Debt Free Teacher for their support!

ASU+GSV Recap: INNOVATION AND FUTURE-READY TEACHING
The 2025 ASU+GSV Summit brought together a bold and diverse network of leaders reimagining what’s possible in education. City Teaching Alliance was proud to be part of both the ASU+GSV Summit and The AI SHOW @ ASU +GSV, where we showcased our work, learned from peers, and deepened partnerships that will help shape the future of teaching. OTHER HAPPENINGS
Philly Experience Weekend
Philly showed up strong for Experience Weekend! Cohort 2025 spent the weekend visiting two of our incredible partner schools, learning more about coaching, and taking in inspiring words from our CEO, Dr. Rahesha S. Amon, and Philly’s Executive Director, Jeff Glowik. This weekend was full of purpose!
It’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month!
Happy Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! At City Teaching Alliance, we celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of AAPI communities. This year’s theme, “A Legacy of Leadership and Resilience,” honors the strength and influence of AAPI trailblazers whose resilience and leadership have left a proud impact on society and continue to inspire generations today.
We hope you will stay connected with us, our students, our educators, and our schools as we – and our growing network of powerful practitioners – continue to learn, innovate, and co-create the future of teaching and learning in our communities.
