Change Starts in Baltimore
Make a difference in one of the nation’s oldest cities
In just fourteen years, City Teaching Alliance Baltimore has grown to a total of 454 residents and educators working in classrooms in 98 schools across Baltimore. We came here to join a collaborative community of educators who are building a pipeline of talented teachers. We serve students in historically underserved and urban classrooms who deserve the expert instruction and passion of teachers who are committed to an impactful career in the classroom.
COMBATING RACIAL AND SOCIOECONOMIC INEQUALITY
Founded in 1729, Baltimore’s story is very much the story of America: one of growth and opportunity, but also one in which communities of color have not shared equally in those advantages. It is a place where segregation and injustice have been countered by families, communities, and institutions driven by a vision of social justice. Nowhere are the past and present of Baltimore City better reflected than in the city’s public schools.
Teaching in Baltimore
Baltimore is a big city whose eclectic neighborhoods make it feel like a small town. With one of the nation’s oldest public school systems, Baltimore offers a range of school models and specializations, from early college programs to vocational-technical schools, language immersion, visual and performing arts, and STEM emphases. As a part of City Teaching Alliance, you’ll make a difference in one of these 164 schools over the next four years. Across the city, we rally around the young people in our classrooms and the educators who support them. You’ll discover that there’s no better way to start your career in education than with the incredible children and teens who call Baltimore their home.
